We occupied 2 rooms with a connecting door, which was very convenient. We were a couple in 1 and my sister and her 2 kids in the other. We all really enjoyed this retro mid century modern hotel with a spanish-Cali style, which is totally us! From the colors, decor and comfy seating in the lobby, halls and rooms - it hit the right notes. The Shuttle to Universal was so convenient and the drivers were top notch, so friendly and accommodating. Bed, bath and seating in our rooms were fantastic, in the Portola building. SO Smart to have a hole in the shower glass so you can reach in and turn on the shower water before you step in, so you don't get wet. What a concept - whoever thought of this should get a year-end bonus! The cute shop on site is SO well-curated with eclectic CA taste and thoughtful items for gifts. We bought clothing and were tempted by snacks. Store staff were amazing there as well. The Front Yard was delicious for a quick dinner and also is the result of someone's gorgeous direction. The pool was a welcome spot of relaxation after a full day at the park. Hot tub was perfect in the morning. Parking is plentiful. Named for actress Beverly Garland, a gifted talent (My 3 Sons and much more), her portrait graces the lobby (we asked the staff). A must stay hotel for the true Hollywood experience!

This hotel is truly a luxurious gem and highlights California in all the best ways. The trolley is so darn cute and we would’ve loved to utilize it but we needed to get to universal by 630 am. Everyone was helpful kind and always had a smile. Everyone clearly loves working there. The rooms were immaculately clean as well and the beds were literally some of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in and I am extremely hard to please! The pool area is very cool but small and can’t accommodate large amounts of people comfortably but the bar has amazing drinks! The little shop is so cute and I bought so many things to take home! You won’t be disappointed when you stay here 🩷! We will be back if we find ourselves needing to be in this area again!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Garland. The location was excellent for Universal Studios but also for looking around LA. We had a rental car so did not use the trolley. The room had everything we needed, including coffee. We loved the pool setting and ate there twice. We had two children 9 and 12 with us and they had so much fun in the pool with other children around this age. (we stayed in July). The menu is great. We also ate brunch at the restaurant and it was delicious. We made use of the laundry facility which was useful after two weeks of travelling. The staff was friendly and helpful and we would recommend this hotel for families.

Brilliant location for getting access to interstate to get out of LA as quick as possible. Bed really comfortable. air con did not really cool down room so spoiled sleep. Only one takeaway cup supplied for drinks in room. Pool area small and VERY crowded. Ambience spoilt by private parties taking over most of hotels small public places. Felt very safe. Laptop safe would not take our laptop. Checkout and valet at 5am very good, although advised that we would be in Vegas in two hours, when it really takes 4!

It really is an Oasis in North Hollywood. On entering the hotel there is a homely and comfortable feeling, it’s a great place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of LA. Loved chilling out by the pool, room was great, plenty of conveniently located parking. Nice bar and restaurant on site with good ambience. We would stay there again.
